Tooth Whitening

Tooth whitening is a well established procedure in cosmetic dentistry. The whitening ingredients (Carbamide Peroxide or Hydrogen Peroxide) have been used in dentistry for many years and are perfectly safe to use.

How does the process work?

We take a set of impressions of your teeth; a dental technician then makes a pair of plastic trays to fit precisely over your upper and lower teeth (these trays are like very small, delicate gumshields). We then provide you with a kit consisting of several syringes of whitening gel; this is placed in the trays which are worn for a number of hours per day or night, depending on the system used. You will notice a change in the colour of your teeth after 10-14 days.

Are there any side effects?

Some people notice that their teeth become more sensitive during the treatment (which lasts up to 3 weeks); this can be controlled by using a “sensitive tooth” toothpaste.
