Dental Veneers

If a tooth is fractured, very heavily filled or badly stained, then porcelain veneers are an option.

Veneers are very thin slivers of porcelain, akin to false finger nails, which are applied to the front-facing part of the tooth to mask significant defects. They can also be used to close gaps in teeth and to 'straighten' a smile where the teeth are crooked and perhaps beyond the scope of orthodontics. When used in the this way, the technique is often referred to as 'instant' orthodontics because the appearance of straight teeth can be created extremely quickly.

Fitting dental veneers is slightly invasive in that a small layer of the underlying tooth has to be removed to accommodate the thickness of the veneer. The veneer is then fixed firmly to the prepared tooth using special dental adhesive.

When cared for carefully, dental veneers can last in excess of 10 years and are an affordable way to create a great looking smile quickly.

If you are considering enhancing your smile with dental veneers, perhaps for a big event like a wedding or other special celebration, our team at Starbeck Dental Centre near Harrogate will be delighted to see you.
